Tigard is a city in Washington Country, located south of Beaverton and north of Tualatin, and still considered part of the Portland metropolitan area. With an historic and revitalized downtown region, farmers market, and beautiful parks and trails, Tigard is a desirable, affordable community with easy access to Portland, Beaverton, and Hillsboro. Tigard Interstate 5 and Oregon Route 217 are the main freeway connectors to the city, with rail services provided by Trimet.
Located in the West Hills, the northeastern part of the neighborhood, above Goose Hollow and Downtown Portland, is known as Portland Heights. Much of the western portion of the neighborhood lies outside of Portland city limits, in unincorporated Multnomah County.
Made up of the distinctly different micro-neighborhoods of Fulton, Johns Landing, Terwilliger, South Waterfront, Lair Hill and Corbett, South Portland is just south of downtown and bordered by the Willamette. This area features a range of vintage home styles along with modern high rise condos, classic feeling neighborhoods, some river views, and close proximity to OHSU and the tram.
Like most Southwest neighborhoods, this is a charming area with a mix of residential homes and businesses with a strong sense of local community. Tall evergreens, curvy streets, and views create a more suburban feel, despite the close proximity to downtown Portland.
SW Portland is largely suburban in feel, but Multnomah Village offers a more urban vibe. Restaurants, bars, and shops create a lively environment for locals. The village is at the intersection of Capitol and Multnomah Blvd, a pretty busy road, but it is still pedestrian friendly for the stretch of a few blocks.
Relaxed, residential, and laid back, Marshall Park is located surprising close in considering its rural vibe. This neighborhood features a variety of home styles, and provides a quiet, family-friendly lifestyle.
Like many of the Southwest Portland neighborhoods, Markham has more of a suburban feeling than neighborhoods located closer to the city. There are several great parks and nature areas in this neighborhood, like Marshall Park, with lovely places to escape to while still being in Portland.
Maplewood is made of a nice mix of suburban and rural features, all while being located relatively close to downtown for an easy commute. There are a wide variety of home styles, and some areas feature hills with views. Multnomah Village is located nearby, so there are many areas to shop, eat, and find activities.
The Homestead neighborhood is a mix of suburban and urban areas. It borders the OHSU complex AKA “Pill Hill”. A number of parks and nature areas are nearby, making it easy to find an escape from the city. Homestead is located within easy driving distance to downtown Portland.
