Lions, Tigers, and Sweets – Oh My!

Contact Alia Marie about this post

I have a major sweet tooth, so thank goodness I live in a city with a seemingly endless list of spots to grab delicious dessert at! If you’re new to the area or are looking for a new place to check out, here are my recommendations for the best dessert in Portland:

PIX PÂTISSERIE2225 E Burnside Street

I feel so fancy eating dessert from Pix. Having trained at a prestigious pâstisserie in France, owner Cheryl knows what she is doing! To ensure she’s bringing authentic flavor to each dessert, she frequently travels to France to immerse herself in the atmosphere and culture associated with pastries. Sign me up!

SCOUT OUT: Pear Rosemary Tart

FARINA BAKERY1852 SE Hawthorne Boulevard

Oh boy. What to say about Farina. This place is the bee’s knees! They supply macarons to various Portland cafes and you’ll know why the second you bite into one – they’re hands-down the best macarons I have ever had!

SCOUT OUT: Salty Caramel Macaron – it’s gorgeous and delicious!

BLUE STAR DONUTS 1237 SW Washington Street

Yummm! The thing that makes Blue Star special is that they make their donuts using a classic brioche recipe that originates from the south of France. I guess I have a thing for the French way of doing desserts! Their unique flavors have earned them the nickname “Donuts for Grownups” and, gosh, do they do it well!

SCOUT OUT: Passion Fruit Cocoa Nib

KEN’S ARTISAN BAKERY338 NW 21st Avenue

Ken’s Artisan Bakery has been featured in the likes of Travel + Leisure, USA Today, and the LA Times and it’s completely deserved. Everything at Ken’s is to-die-for and made with local, fresh, organic ingredients. That means getting one of everything is healthy, right?

SCOUT OUT: Hazelnut Butter Cookie
